Education, healthcare, welfare top priority for Rajasthanis
Hyderabad: The Rajasthani community, which is predominantly known as the business community, wants the support of the government for education, healthcare, and the welfare of its members. The community also wants political parties to nominate its candidates for the upcoming elections to give them a voice in the state legislature.
The Rajasthanis have been an integral part of Hyderabad for more than 150 years. Currently, there are 10 Rajasthanis belonging to 12 sects living in the GHMC area.
While most of the community members are into business, many of them are moving into other spaces such as CAs, advocates, doctors, engineers and IT professionals.
According to the Rajasthani women, the government should help women by offering them training through distance education mode.
Nandgopal Bhattad, a writer and poet, said, “We expect the government to deliver good education and healthcare. The government should provide a secured environment.
“There are several migrants from Rajasthan who are working here. They are Below Poverty Line. For such people, there are no good government schools. So the government should provide education to them.”
Sangeeta Bhutada, resident of Narayanguda, said the government should provide loans to women for setting up cottage industries without charging any interest.
There are 6,000 Maheshwari families in Hyderabad. The government should reserve some seats for our community in educational institutions, said Dr Ramvilas Saboo.
Govind Narayan Rathi, the director of Mahesh Bank and Rajasthani Pragathi Samaj general secretary, said: “This is a community whose presence is large. We are a part of Telangana. So the parties should come forward and give us tickets as we need political presence in the state.”
