Ministers inspect progress of works on Ambedkar statue
Vijayawada: Deputy chief minister (endowments) Kottu Satyanarayana and social welfare minister Merugu Nagarjuna inspected the progress of works on the Dr BR Ambedkar statue at Swarajya Maidan here on Monday.
Satyanarayana praised Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy according top honour to the Dalit icon by setting up his statue in the heart of the city. “We are developing a memorial museum, a hall, a library and other amenities depicting the major phases in the life of BR Ambedkar for the benefit of the young generation. We shall organise a big event to unveil the statue.”
Social welfare minister Merugu Nagarjuna said the statue and Smiriti Vanam were coming up in a 70 acre premises at a cost of '400 crore.
“Based on directions from the CM, we are developing the Smiriti Vanam to reflect the key phases in the life of BR Ambedkar,” he stated.
