President Droupadi Murmu offers prayers at Srisailam temples
ANANTAPUR: President Droupadi Murmu offered pooja at the Lord Mallkarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bramarambika temples in Srisailam in Nandyal district on Monday.
The President, accompanied by Telangana governor Tamilsai Soundararajan, arrived by helicopter in Sunnipenta closer to the temple town, from Hyderabad.
She was accorded a grand welcome by finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, culture minister RK Roja, endowment minister Satyanarayana, Srisailam temple trust chairman Chakrapani Reddy and others at the helipad.
After spending a few minutes at the Bramarambika guest house, the president along with the governor arrived at the Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bramarambika temple premises at 12.45pm. Temple priests offered a traditional welcome to her with Purna Kumbham.
Droupadi Murmu had darshan and prayers before the Rathnagarbha Ganapathi at the main entrance. Later, she offered Rudrabhishekam for the Jyothirlgam of Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy. The temple priests explained to her about the historic notes of the temple. She also had darshan of temple Vimana Gopuram.
Later, the president had darshan of Goddess Bramarambika, one of Shakthi Peethams in the country, and offered kumkumarchana for the goddess.
Endowment minister Kottu Satya Narayana, commissioner Hari Jawaharlal Naik and temple trust chairman Chakrapani Reddy offered prasadam to the President and the TS Governor.
Temple priests blessed them with ashirvachanam.
