SC pulls up CBI over slow pace of investigation in Vivekananda murder case
ANANTAPUR: The Supreme Court has expressed its anguish over the slow progress of investigations by the CBI in the four-year-long Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case.
The SC Bench comprising Justice M.R. Shah and Justice Sundareshan directed the CBI to either change the investigation officer or replace the existing officer with a new officer to speed up the investigation.
The apex court pulled up CBI on Monday following a petition by Tulasamma, wife of accused number five in the case D. Shivashankar Reddy, over the delay in the investigations. The SC bench found the CBI report had mentioned the political motive behind the murder but no progress was seen in the case investigations.
Counsel of Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Sunitha brought to the notice of the court that if the investigation officer is changed, the case would be further delayed. But, the SC bench observed that it only wants to speed up the investigation and complete the case.
The apex court posted the case for further hearing to April 10.
