KTR reviews progress of schemes in textile and handloom sectors

HYDERABAD: Minister K.T.Rama Rao on Friday reviewed the progress of schemes being implemented by the textiles and handlooms department.

The minister instructed officials to simplify the norms and introduce user friendly procedures in ongoing schemes such as the 'Chenetha Mitra' scheme.
Rama Rao asked them to submit a report on the implementation of block level clusters in the state.

He instructed officials to complete pending works in the mini and mega textile parks besides apparel parks. He reviewed the progress of works at Gundlapochampally Apparel Park and Gadwal Handloom Park.

He asked officials to make the handloom weaving lucrative so that weavers who had migrated elsewhere to find jobs may come back to the profession and return to state Rama Rao asked officials to submit proposals for development of handloom clusters as Narayanpet, Gadwal, Dubbak, Kodakandla, Mahadevpur and Kothakota. He asked officials to make arrangements to celebrate National Handloom Day on August 7 in a grand manner.

He also asked them to submit proposals for establishing the Handloom Museum in Hyderabad. Rama Rao advised officials to visit Tirupur to study their model and develop such clusters in Telangana.
