Moderate rains likely in Hyderabad today
HYDERABAD: After a brief break from rains, the city is expected to have another round of moderate rains with hailstorms in the coming days as weather will continue to remain cloudy with a comparative dip in the maximum temperatures.
Heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in Sangareddy, its adjoining areas and Medak, which also experienced hailstorms. The highest rainfall was recorded in Kamareddy at 21 mm, followed by Nizamabad at 10 mm.
As regards the maximum temperatures, only three cities in Bhadradri Kothagudem remained in the orange bracket, while most of the districts were in the yellow and green brackets, indicating considerable low levels of maximum temperatures in the state, said a report from TS development and planning society.
The maximum temperature in the state was recorded in Bhadradri Kothagudem at 40.9 degree, whereas in the city limits, the maximum temperature was 35.7 degree in Maruthi Nagar, Medchal.
IMD said that presently southerlies and south-easterlies were prevailing over the state, which could bring in more showers over the next five days.
The IMD has said that thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, hailstorms and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places in the state. An orange alert for two days, followed by a three-day yellow alert have been sounded.
The city will have a generally cloudy sky for the next 48 hours with light to moderate rains and maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be 33 degree and 23 degree, respectively.
