Vikarabad tops Telangana in minors' rescue
HYDERABAD: The anti-human trafficking team of Vikarabad district stood first in the state by rescuing over 300 minors working in different places in Vikarabad district.
Additional DGP, women safety, Shikha Goel, on Saturday, presented a meritorious certificate to anti-human trafficking unit inspector V. Dasu for best performance.
Vikarabad SP N. Koti Reddy said that they have taken up an initiative as part of the statewide campaign to rescue children. The Vikarabad team rescued 316 children from different business establishments and rehabilitated them.
“We have formed a special team in coordination with different departments and started creating awareness among the people and businessmen to prevent child labour. The counselling session was organised to educate them not to engage children below 18 years into employment,” the SP said.
He stated that people do not trust superstitions in villages, black magic and child marriages. Citizens contact the police on cybercrime frauds to lodge complaints and dial 100 in emergency situations, he said. “The crime rate will reduce only if people come forward and inform the police on any illegal activities in their localities,” Koti Reddy said.
