Buggana wants to make Kurnool an eco-tourism hub

Kurnool: Finance minister Buggana Rajendranath on Tuesday underlined that the state government is planning to develop Kurnool district as an eco-tourism hub.

Interacting with senior officials at the R&B guest house in Kurnool town, he discussed proposals, designs and detailed project reports related to development of tourism in the district. He set a deadline of 15 days for finalisation of these projects.

The meeting paid special attention to Vijayavanam (Pullaiah Park) on outskirts of the city. The minister wanted the park to include an amphitheatre with state-of-the-art facilities, walking and cycling paths, a yoga centre, and aesthetic lighting arrangements. Rajendranath wanted that walking paths be made of clay, rather than cement.

He further suggested that Vijayavanam be designed with facilities along the lines of popular parks and gardens like Nehru Park and Lodhi Garden in Delhi and Pala Pitta and KBR Park in Hyderabad. He proposed that a development society headed by the district collector be formed to expedite the work on Vijayavanam Park.

The minister further discussed plans for setting up of a convention centre, facility for tourists, and a restaurant on 10 acres of land adjacent to the Vijayavanam Park.

Collector Dr. G. Srijana informed Buggana about the district administration’s efforts to develop rock climbing and sky cycling projects in a public-private partnership mode, apart from transparent bubble tents, which are gaining popularity in the district.
