Gherao GHMC: Revanth

HYDERABAD: TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy called on Congress cadres to storm the GHMC office on Friday for failing to help flood-hit people. Speaking in a zoom call with AICC Telangana incharge Manikrao Thakre, he called on the Congress cadre to stand by the people and criticised minister K.T. Rama Rao for celebrating his birthday without caring for the people.

He said the government should immediately pay Rs 10,000 to those unable to find work. He said the Congress hd established a control room to oversee the flood relief measures. He said the flooding was caused by BRS leaders encroaching on nala land.

Responding to a call by TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy to help rain-affected persons, Congress leaders headed out to inundated areas to ensure that the residents received help.

Khairatabad corporator P. Vijaya Reddy visited the CID quarters and ensured the water that had accumulated there was pumped out. She says Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) work in the area was incomplete.

Secunderabad DCC president Anil Kumar Yadav said Congress workers distributed food in the Arundhatinagar area and helped clear fallen trees in Banjara Hills.

“We visited Roads No 13 and 14 of Himayatnagar adjacent to the Musi river and distributed food to 100 families. I am planning to go again and provide medicines to the needy soon,” said TPCC vice-president M.R.G. Vinod Reddy.

TPCC vice president N.B.R Bhupathi Reddy from Quthbullapur visited the area and distributed rice, oil and pulses as an immediate relief measure to 500 to 600 families. Malkajgiri DCC president Nandikanti Sridhar who toured the flooded areas said, “The failure to increase the size of the stormwater drain resulted in flooding in Shirdinagar, Kalyannagar and PatelnNagar. Owing to repeated flooding people in the area are readying to sell their houses as the problem is not being solved and is recurring.”
