Modern bus bay in Visakhapatnam Central Park tilted
Visakhapatnam: The new bus shelter on south side of the Vizag RTC complex has tilted to one side. The GVMC is constructing this bus shelter with great fanfare in front of its office. The Corporation is building 20 modern bus stands at a cost of Rs 4.64 crore.
According to GVMC superintendent engineer, Raju, “The bus stand is under-construction. Some of the welding links are not yet done. As a result they broke apart causing the structure to tilt to one side. There were no passengers at the shelter when the incident took place. The shelter is yet to be inaugurated.” After the bus shelter tilted, CPM corporator, Ganga Rao, visited the spot. He said, “The design of these bus shelters is faulty and just to make more money in a short period of time. That is why the YSRC government approved them and started building.”
Ganga Rao also stated that it was not necessary to spend so many crores and have bus stops without basic amenities.
