President Releases Rs 100 Coin Marking NTR's Birth Centenary
VIJAYAWADA: President Droupadi Murmu released the commemorative coin of Rs 100 denomination on N.T. Rama Rao on his birth centenary year at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, she said that NTR had enriched Indian cinema and culture through films and breathed life into characters of the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. His portrayals of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna were so realistic that people started worshiping NTR, the President said.
She pointed out how NTR had expressed the pain of the common people through his acting and spread the message of social justice and equality through one of his films ‘Manushulanta Okkate.’
The President stated that NTR’s popularity was equally wide as a public servant and leader, who created an unique chapter in Indian politics through his extraordinary personality. She lauded his welfare programmes that are remembered even now.
She appreciated the Union ministry of finance for bringing out the commemorative coin on NTR and opined that the charismatic personality would remain etched in the memory of Telugu people.
It was NTR’s eldest daughter and AP BJP chief Daggubati Purandeswari who invited the family members and others to attend the ceremony, which was a private programme and not an official one.
