Hyderabad: The police seized Rs 5.32 crore in cash in a 24-hour period ending at 9 am on Saturday, taking the total amount seized to Rs 136 crore since October 9 when the elections were announced and intense checking of vehicles began.
The Election Commission announced that the police had seized Rs 6.11 crore worth liquor and the total value of liquor seized stood at Rs 28.84 crore. Police seized Rs 58.27 lakh worth ganja; the overall is now worth Rs 18.18 crore.
The total value of gold, silver and diamonds seized stood at Rs 162 crore, with the action on Friday yielding Rs 19.13 lakh.
Police also seized Rs 1.65 crore worth freebies such as saris, mobile phones and appliances.
The value of cash, liquor, narcotics, precious metals and freebies seized since October 9 stood at Rs 377 crore.
