MP: Congress leader dies after submitting memo against demonetisation
Gwalior: A 55-year-old Congress leader on Monday died due to cardiac arrest soon after submitting a memorandum protesting the Centre's demonetisation move.
Gwalior district Congress President Darshan Singh suffered a massive heart attack after coming from Moti Mahal, Divisional Commissioner's Office, where Congress leaders as part of the party's 'Akrosh rally' had gone to submit a memorandum against demonetisation, Madhya Pradesh Congress General Secretary Ashok Singh said.
Gwalior Divisional Commissioner S N Roopla told PTI that as part of the Congress delegation, Singh came for submitting the memorandum, which he took in the office premises.
Roopla said Singh suffered "(heart) attack" after reaching his (Singh's) office.
Soon after the heart attack, Singh was rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
He was considered close to senior Congress leader and Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8 had announced demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.
