A team of around 40 I- staff from Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy landed simultaneously in the cluster of educational institutions.
Sources said that the government has directed the income-tax department to create awareness that no raids would be conducted if the depositors make advance tax payment towards the deposits.
Salem: Sleuths from the income tax department raided the Paavai Group of Institutions at Rasipuram in Namakkal district.
A team of around 40 I- staff from Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy landed simultaneously in the cluster of educational institutions and in the house of its chairman N.V. Natarajan at around 11am.
Thousands of students study in the engineering college, arts and science, schools and polytechnic institutions run by Paavai Group. Raids were also held at the house of shareholders of the educational institutions. In another development, a spinning mill owned by Nallathambi and Chinnasamy at Namakkal was also raided by a 15 member team of I-T sleuths. Raids continued till late in the evening and the outcome is yet to be known.
