Bhubanewsar: A woman died and four others went missing when a boat capsized in Odisha’s Koraput district on Thursday.
According to reports, the mishap occurred when the boat carrying five persons, including two minor girls on board, sank in the Patali river.
The deceased and missing persons hailed Tansing village under Nandapur block.
The Nandapur fire services personnel and an Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team were pressed into action for the rescue operation of victims.
According to reports, three women Lalmani Sisa (23), Sasirekha Alarb (24) Nabina Alarb (25) along with two minor girls had been to Badela village to attend a wedding event. While returning to their village on a country boat, it capsized in the Patali river.
While the body of a woman was found floating in the river a few minutes after the boat capsized, efforts were underway to trace other missing persons.
