TTD Distributes House Sites to 3,518 Employees; Retired Staff to Get Sites in January
TIRUPATI: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams distributed house sites to 3,518 employees at an event in Tirupati on Thursday. This was the first time in 20 years that house sites were released to TTD staff.
Speaking at the event on Thursday, TTD chairman and legislator Bhumana Karunakar Reddy affirmed that Hindu Sanatana Dharma activities and employee welfare measures would be top priorities. Expressing happiness at the handing over of house site documents to thousands of TTD employees, he said this effort began 17 years ago during his first stint as TTD trust board chairman.
Recounting discussions he held in 2009 with then chief minister Y.S.
Rajasekhar Reddy on providing house sites to TTD staff, Karunakar Reddy said the decades-old dream has been achieved now due to the efforts of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The TTD chief said that while Jagan Mohan Reddy wanted to allot sites free of cost, this was not legally viable. “The present allotment is at nominal rates. Sites will be given to retired employees next month. Another 1,500 employees will receive sites in the second phase this January.”
Karunakar congratulated TTD executive officer A.V. Dharma Reddy, collector Venkataramana Reddy and other officials for executing the project. The district administration allotted 350 acres near Pagali while the EO sanctioned ₹85 crore for land procurement.
Dharma Reddy provided details of the process for procuring and developing the land. He said the procurement of lands at a cost of Rs 210 crore procurement in Vadamalapet and Pagali was a historic decision. The next phase of site distribution will occur in the next 15 days.
TTD PRO T. Ravi and others speaking on behalf of TTD employees thanked the TTD chairman and EO for allotting them the house sites. Later, the TTD chairman and EO distributed house site documents to employees.
