Sircilla woman gives birth to quadruplets
WARANGAL: In a rare instance, a woman in Mustabad mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district on Tuesday gave birth to quadruplets — three boys and one girl — at a private hospital, in her second delivery.
The woman, Gottumukkala Lavanya, of Samudra Lingapur village of Gambhiraopet mandal, had given birth to a boy nine years ago and became pregnant after a long gap, sources said.
On Tuesday, she first delivered a boy, then a girl, followed by two other boys. Doctors who performed the delivery said that it was a one-in-10-lakh case.
They said that Lavanya was eight months pregnant and was suffering from illness, which posited a possibility of premature delivery, due to which they performed the surgery.
The health condition of the mother and her children is stable, with each baby weighing over a kilogram. They were shifted to a government hospital in Siddipet for observation.
Lavanya’s family members were surprised and elated by the news.
