Six urban forest parks declared open as part of Harita Haram programme in TS

HYDERABAD: Six new urban forest parks were inaugurated on Thursday as part of Harita Haram programme at Nagaram, Pallegadda, Sirigiripuram, Sri Nagar, Tummalur and Manyankancha in Maheshwaram constituency of Rangareddy district. Saplings were planted to mark the occasion by ministers Indrakaran Reddy and Sabitha Indra Reddy here on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Indrakaran Reddy said “We aim to plant 19.54 crore saplings in the eighth phase".

Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has developed these parks at a cost of `22 crore. So far 39 such parks have been created at a cost of `400 crore. Sabitha Indra Reddy said “locals are equally responsible for protecting forest lands and urban forest parks”. Apart from leisure, the theme of the park is to promote health and enjoyment. Some of the facilities are interpretation shade safari track, gazebo, watch tower, gap plantation and protection wall.
