Use e-bikes to Reduce Pollution and for Protection of Environment

Vijayawada: NTR district collector Dr S. Dilli Rao has decided to travel on an electric two-wheeler (scooter) in Vijayawada City to make people aware towards a safe environment. He purchased an electric two-wheeler from the Avera organisation at the camp office in Vijayawada on Saturday. Later, he took a trial drive on the road of the collectorate and expressed his happiness over the benefits of the electric bike.

The collector said that it would be a hardship to travel in a car on the busiest city roads. Also, it would lead to pollution for the people of the city, he felt. So, people should use e-bikes to reduce pollution and keep the environment safe, he said.

After seeing heavy traffic and pollution problems during the official work on a car, he decided to use an electric bike for his personal work in the evening time, he added.

Dilli Rao said that people are spending Rs.100 for petrol to travel about 40 km, while these electric bikes reduce the cost to Rs.25 for 100 km. These e-bikes would be very useful for middle-class people, as the petrol cost has been an additional burden for them, he added.

Avera founder and CEO Dr Venkata Ramana and others participated in the programme.
