CBSE academic records go online
Kochi: The CBSE is forming a digital repository of academic records titled ‘Parinam Manjusha’ on the lines of one created by some of the universities in the country to prevent forging of such records by uncanny elements and also enable access of the documents anytime anywhere. “CBSE and its regional offices will be able to store, access and update academic records of students in this central repository. Employers and educational institutions can use this repository to verify academic records of CBSE students online after due registration so as to ensure that they are genuine. The digital form enables certificates to be intact forever,” said senior CBSE official in Delhi over phone.
The digital academic certificates from this repository will also be available to students through DigiLocker which has the eSign facility. This facility can be used to digitally sign one’s uploaded documents. This is similar to the process of self-attestation. “Both initiatives have been undertaken under the Digital India programme of the Prime Minister which aims at transforming India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. DigiLocker is a platform for issuance and verification of documents & certificates in a digital way, thus eliminating the use of physical documents. The DigiLocker website can be accessed at https://digitallocker.gov.in,” said the official.
In another step, the CBSE, in view of the encouraging response to its mandatory disclosure scheme from schools, has decided to make it a regular feature to collect important information through an online software titled Online Affiliated School Information System (OASIS). The CBSE said that this platform will ensure transparency for parents to choose the school for their wards from anywhere and helps in CBSE evaluation of the schools.
