Vellore: Girl, parents found with throats slit
Vellore: In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old girl and her parents were found dead with their throats slit at their home near Tirupattur in Vellore district. The couple’s son is being treated at a hospital with serious injuries.
Mohan (52), who works with Tangedco, returned home in Kaakangarai village at around 6 am on Monday and the incident came to light at around 7 am when villagers heard sounds of people screaming and knocked on the doors of the house.
“When villagers broke open the door, they found Mohan, his wife Rajeshwari (45) and daughter Suganya (23) lying in a pool of blood with their throats slit. They found the couple’s son Tamilarasan (20) with minor injuries and admitted him to the nearby hospital,” P Pagalavan, Superintendent of Police, Vellore District, told DC. Ms Suganya was to get married next month.
The SP said no clean chit has been given to Tamilarasan, who is the only eyewitness and who can throw light on what happened inside his house. “The boy has sustained only minor injuries and we will question him for sure once he is able to speak. He is under treatment and he is expected to get normal very soon,” Mr Pagalavan said.
Sources said the police are also probing the angle of the 20-year-old’s role in the incident since he had only “minor injuries”. “We are also probing other angles of whether there were any outsiders involved in the incident,” the source said. Police recovered a penknife with bloodstains on it from the house.
