Farmer Gets Calls from VVIPs Seeking Security Cover
HYDERABAD: For the last few months, a 40-year-old farmer, Narayana, has been receiving calls from VVIPs, senior government officers and political leaders seeking security, among other others. The calls included from the then ministers seeking increase of security cover during the recent election campaign.
All callers were upset, Narayana said, after he told them that they had got the wrong number.
It all started when Narayana, a resident of Mothe village in Sangareddy district, purchased a SIM card of the BSNL. The same number was earlier used by the SP (administration) of ISW before it was changed to a few months back. However, the officials failed to update the contact details on the portal of Telangana police.
The 40-year-old farmer said that he was scared initially while receiving calls from the staff of VVIPs.
"I put my mobile phone at a farmhouse while I was in the fields. There were more than ten missed calls. Suddenly I received a call and the caller started enquiring about the security for a Chief Minister and other VVIPs. I replied that it was a wrong number," Narayana said.
“Initially, I received up to 15 calls per day. I request the officials to update the contact list immediately to free me of this harassment," he said.
On being contacted, ISW officials said that though the old numbers had been changed a few months back, they had forgotten to update it on the portal. They will be rectifying it, the officials said.
