Jagan Mohan Reddy Government's Remarkable Investment in Education Reforms
Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would deposit Rs.584 crore directly into the joint accounts of 8,09,039 mothers/students for the July-Sept quarter of 2023, at an event in Bhimavaram, West Godavari district, on Friday.
Education minister Botsa Satyanarayana said, “Including what is being provided today, the Jagan Mohan Reddy government has so far released a total of Rs.18,576 crore under the Jagananna Vidya Deevena and Jagananna Vasathi
Deevena.
This is Rs. 6,435 crore more than the expenditure incurred on these counts by the previous TD government.
Explaining the Jagananna Vidya Deevena, Satyanarayana said that with an
avowed aim of providing higher education to the poor students, the Jagan government is reimbursing total fee, on quarterly basis, soon after completion of every quarter. “This is put directly into the joint accounts of the mothers/ students pursuing ITI, polytechnic, degree, engineering, medicine and other courses without any limit on the number of eligible children in a family.”
He said the YSRC government was not only taking care of the educational expenses of students but also their boarding and lodging expenses under which financial assistance of Rs. 20,000 to students pursuing degree, engineering and medicine, Rs. 15,000 to polytechnic students and Rs. 10,000 to ITI students in two installments every year, regularly.
Satyanarayana noted, “To ensure that final year students who have written or
are completing their final exams do not face any financial difficulties, the
Jagananna government has released Rs. 185.85 crore to 2,00,648 students in May 2023 and August 2023, even before the respective quarters ended.”
Funds are also being released to 59,724 final year students who have recently completed their final exams or are preparing for the exams, as part of the current Jagananna Vidya Deevana.
The education minister appealed to others and students to pay the college fee pertaining to their children within a week or 10 days after the amount is credited into their accounts. “In case of a failure to do so, the next installment of the fee reimbursement will be paid directly to the accounts of their colleges.”
They added that in 55 months since coming to power, the YSRC government has
spent a total of Rs. 73,417 crore on education reforms, alone.
