Brahmotsavam at Vontimitta starts on a grand note
KURNOOL: Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple at Vontimitta in YSR district of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams is decked up for the annual Sri Rama Navami Brahmotsavam. The annual Ram Navami Brahmotsavam, which will be held from March 31 to April 9, was inaugurated on Thursday night with Ankurarpanam.
The temple has an ancient and historical significance. According to the inscriptions, the temple was built in three phases and the construction started in the 14th century and was completed in the 17th century. Kamparayas, who ruled Udayagiri, once roamed in this area. The cook who lives on hunting, Mittadu, the kamparayas who come here, and his family are quenched with the water created by Lord Rama. On the request of both, Kamparayalu builds the temple and establishes the village of Vontimitta and the temple was opened by Bukka Raya in 1356 A.D. Vontimitta is also known as monolithic city because of the presence of idols of Sita Rama and Lakshmana on the same rock.
Further, Thirumanjanam was performed to the deities of the family and to wake up the Lord with ushodaya suprabhatham. Later, vyasabhishekam, aradhana and archana were performed to the moolavars. From 6 p.m. onwards, ankurarpana was performed amidst vedic chanting of the priests.
As a part of this, the idols of Sri Seetharama Lakshmana utsava idols were decorated beautifully and placed on a special platform and performed Vishvaksena Puja, Kalash Pratishtha, Kalash Pooja, Vasudev Punyahavachanam and Kankanadharanam. Later, puttamannu collection program was conducted and the event was presided over by Kankanabhattar K.H. Rajesh Kumar.
TTD officials informed Dhwajarohanam will take place on Friday, between 8 am and 9 am in Taurus Lagna. Kavi Sammelan will be held from 3 pm to 5 pm and Sesha Vahana Seva will be held from 7 pm to 9 pm. Vahana Sevas will be held from 8 am to 10 am and from 7 pm to 9 pm every day. Temple Deputy EO Natesh Babu, Superintendents Venkatesaiah, R C Subrahmanyam and others were present on the occasion. Further, Pothana Bhagavatham Kavi Sammelanam organized at the temple on Sri Rama Navami has impressed the devotees.
