KAKINADA: YSR Horticulture University vice-chancellor Dr Tolety Janakiram’s wife Ushasri (53) died in a road accident when the two had been returning in their car from Anantarajupeta to the university at Venkataramannagudem in Tadepalligudem mandal of West Godavari district.
Janakiram had been to Anantarajupeta to attend an inauguration of a college in Kadapa district. When he was returning to YSR Horticulture University along with his wife Ushasri, their car hit a tree near Chebrolu in Unguturu mandal.
The VC, his wife as well as the car driver were injured in the incident. While Ushasri died while being taken to hospital, Janakiram had to be admitted in the area hospital at Tadepalligudem for treatment before being discharged. The car driver is undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital in Rajamahendravaram.
The body of Ushasri has been taken to Janakiram’s native place Gorantla in Guntur district for last rites.
YSRC Horticulture University teaching, non-teaching staff and students have expressed their grief over the incident.
