Belagavi lad skates into Guinness records
Belagavi: With four unique world records in roller skating in his kitty, 16-year-old Rohan Kokane of Belagavi has now created a Guinness record by balancing a 35-feet long stick on his chin while roller-skating at the Lingaraj College skating rink in Belagavi. He has already achieved record-breaking performances in limbo-skating at Hong Kong, Brazil and Japan in a space of ten years.
Over the past few months, Rohan has come up with several performances in limbo-skating and balancing of sticks while roller-skating. His best performance was in Belagavi when he balanced a 35-feet stick weighing 4.3 kg on his chin and performed roller skating with ease on Monday.
His coach Suryakant Hindalgekar, who trained Rohan for the last 10 years says, the boy is capable of creating more unique records due to his ability to experiment with different stunts in roller-skating.
Before the latest feat, Rohan's best attempt at balancing of the stick on the chin while roller skating was with a 25-feet long stick which he achieved some months ago. He had to undergo rigorous training regularly to make a Guiness record attempt in the past few weeks. Minutes before resorting to the final Guinness record attempt, Rohan broke his own record at the Lingaraj College rink by balancing a 30-feet long stick on his chin while roller skating for 2.19 minutes. He then took up the challenge and balanced a 35-feet long stick on his chin skating smoothly for a long duration breaking his previous record and creating a new Guinness record.
He had set a record in limbo-skating in 2012 in Hong Kong and two other records in limbo-skating in Tokyo and Brazil in 2013.
