Etala Gets To Work, Gets Y Plus Security, Trashes KCR Rule

HYDERABAD: In a development that should bring some peace to the strife-hit BJP in Telangana, senior leader Etala Rajendar attended the Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan of the party in Sadashivpet, and took the opportunity to castigate Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and the BRS.

Also on Friday, the state government decided to provide Y Plus category security to Rajendar following a complaint from him and his wife about threats to his life.

It may be recalled that it was only three days ago that Rajendar’s wife Jamuna held a press conference and said that her husband faced a threat to his life from BRS MLC Padi Kaushik Reddy, a complaint that was later repeated by Rajendar.

Following the complaints, the Medchal deputy commissioner of police Sandeep Rao met with Rajendar to inquire about the apprehensions about safety and submitted a report to the Director General of Police Anjani Kumar.

Following the report and threat assessment, the government on Friday decided to provide Rajendar with Y plus security which will see the BJP MLA receive a bullet proof vehicle, and a 16 member security detail.

The new security arrangement will be in place form Saturday.

Rajendar has also been in the news over the past few weeks with respect to differences with the state party leadership and was summoned to Delhi to make his case with party president J.P. Nadda and Union home minister Amit Shah in the presence of G. Kishan Reddy, Union minister from the state.

Also summoned to present his views was former MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy. While some changes were expected in the party structure following the meeting, furious rumours did the rounds in the BJP that its state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar could soon be divested of his position and asked to join the Union Cabinet.

However, there was no official confirmation with respect to such a development, or any communication from the party on change of leadership in state BJP.

Meanwhile, Rajendar, addressing the Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan meeting, said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last nine years introduced several programmes and schemes for the welfare of the poor even as he led the country on a path to development. There has not been a single scam in the Central government under Modi’s leadership. But here in Telangana, governance is dominated by KCR, his son, daughter and nephew.”

He said “Modi has already said that a vote for BRS will mean a vote for the KCR family and its benefit. And if people want to benefit, then they should vote for the BJP. Question KCR on the promises he made and did not keep such as three acres of land for Dalits, or why two bedroom houses have not been given to the poor.”

“Give the BJP one chance in the state and an opportunity toserve the people. The BJP will ensure good governance and promises a government that will put people first unlike the BRS government that has put only KCR and his family first,” he added.
