Muslims Celebrate Bakrid With Religious Fervour
VIJAYAWADA: Muslim brethren celebrated Bakrid with religious fervour and offered special prayers at Idgahs across Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.
Deputy chief minister Amjad Basha took part in the special prayers at Mamillapalli Idgah grounds on the city outskirts. He said Muslims all over the world celebrated Bakrid to mark the day of sacrifice.
Basha said the people in the state were happy under the leadership of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and added that the CM would be having the blessing of Allah the Almighty to enable him to continue with his welfare schemes for the poor. He called upon the people to inculcate the habit of helping others.
At Indira Gandhi municipal stadium, several Muslim faithful observed namaz, which was led by Mufti Shahabad Kasmi.
Muslim leaders in their message to mark the day said all humanity was having only one Almighty, and they are the progeny of the same mother and father. They urged all people to live in harmony and laid stress for fraternal relations especially among the Hindus and Muslims.
The Muslim leaders felt there was the need for the nation to have political leaders with moral uprightness.
YSRC health wing Krishna, NTR and Guntur districts in-charge, Mehboob Sheik, said Bakrid festival sent out a message that with strong faith and sacrifice, people could live in harmony and happiness.
