Hyderabad Rains: Patient dies in ambulance due to heavy rain, traffic
Hyderabad: An elderly patient who was being transported from the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad to his residence in Mahbubabad died during the journey on Thursday, the ambulance driver said on his return to the city on Saturday.
The ambulance owner, Surender, said that his vehicle was engaged on Thursday and that the patient was being transported along with oxygen support.
“There was a heavy downpour during the journey and the ambulance was stuck on the road for hours due to a pond breach, during which the man died. The diseased man was an elderly person, whose condition was critical,” Surender said.
Ambulance associations said that while there are 2,000 ambulance services in the state, most of them were hit due to heavy rains and subsequent waterlogging.
Minumula Suresh, president of the Greater Hyderabad Private Ambulance Association, said, “The incessant rain caused inconveniences to the service providers, as vehicles were stuck in heavy traffic jams or on waterlogged roads.”
He said that they have an estimate on the number of such incidents and the same would be revealed during discussions after rains subside.
