HC refuses enhancing stipend of AYUSH house surgeons, PG students

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday refused to grant relief to house surgeons and postgraduate students of AYUSH Institutions over enhancing their stipend at par with that of those studying at allopathic institutions.

Dealing with a petition filed by several AYUSH students on January 21, 2022, the single judge directed the principal secretary, health, medical and family welfare department, to pay enhanced stipends to the house surgeons and postgraduates of AYUSH Institutions from the year 2016 at par with Allopathic Institutions as per G.O. Ms No.88 dated May 18, 2021.

The government, however, challenged the order by filing an appeal with the division bench in April. As the division bench stayed the single judge order, the students filed a petition seeking to vacate the stay, claiming that the order caused a huge loss to them.

Dealing with the petition, the division bench refused to vacate the stay and adjourned the matter to December 1, directing the state government to file its contention.
