VISHAKAPATNAM: One person went missing in the sea while another suffered injuries when a speed boat belonging to the APTDC hit a Kayak while returning to the shore at Rushikonda Beach on Monday afternoon. The boat belonging to APTDC was leased out to private contractors.
According to sources, three local fishermen went into the sea in the speed boat for a joyride and while returning, it rammed into the Kayak damaging it completely. One drowned and got dragged into deep waters while the other two swam ashore.
The fisherman who was reported missing was identified as U. Ganesh. The injured person was identified as Santosh while the name of the other person was not known.
The local fishermen made a frantic search for Ganesh but could not find him till it was dark. Search will resume on Tuesday early hours, a former lifeguard said.
