Telangana HC sets aside SCCL exam
HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court has set aside the examination held by Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) for filling up of 177 Junior Assistant Grade-II posts and asked the company to conduct the test by following strict measures.
Justice P. Madhavi Devi of the High Court pronounced the orders in a petition complaining of malpractice in the examination held on September 4, 2022.
The petitioners said there was no seal on the question paper given to the candidates; candidates were not checked with metal detectors during entry and were allowed to take electronic equipment into the examination hall.
One study circle at Mancherial adopted illegal methods to get the question paper. Candidates with names ‘Telangana’, ‘Andhra Pradesh’, ‘Degree’, and ‘Board of Secondary Education’ were allowed to write the examination by the invigilators.
After perusing the records and hearing the petitioners, the High Court came to the opinion that the authorities had not taken proper care to conduct the examination in a transparent manner. The judge wondered how the candidates with such names were allowed to write the examination.
Justice Madhavi Devi said that these lacunae had created doubt in the minds of the candidates as well as the court about the transparency or seriousness with which the examination was conducted. The court expressed said it was not known whether or not candidates with other names were permitted to write the examination.
