Without conducting a physical inspection, revenue officials registered survey numbers 814,816 in the names of private individuals, who mortgaged it to a private bank and borrowed approximately Rs 13 crore to build a warehouse in the lake.
Hyderabad: A division bench of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday granted time to the authorities to respond on a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking protection of a waterbody of Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
The PIL is filed by Mudhiraj Sangham questioning the failure of the respondents in protecting the lake in an extent of 27 guntas in Chengicharla village in Medchal mandal. The petitioner stated that in the case of the breach of the bund, the lives of residents downstream would be endangered.
