HYDERABAD: In a major year-end setback to pubs and clubs located in Jubilee Hills residential areas, the Telangana High Court on Friday rejected applications filed by some of them seeking permission to play music after 10 pm.
As the court’s division bench has allowed pubs in other localities to play the music till midnight, Farzi Cafe, Amnesia Lounge Bar, Broadway the Brewery and Sunburn Superclub, which are located in Jubilee Hills residential areas, filed interim applications seeking similar relief.
But, the division bench headed by Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan dismissed their applications.
It should be recalled that while dealing with a batch of petitions filed by Jubilee Hills Residents (Clean and Green) Association, which complained that pubs and clubs located in their residential areas were causing nuisance by playing music and running pubs till 3 am with many parking cars in front of their houses, the single judge bench of Justice Kanneganti Lalitha had on September 12 ordered police to take action against the pubs, which are playing loud music after 10pm.
However, the division bench allowed playing of music till midnight in all areas except those located in Jubilee Hills.
