DYFI campaign focuses on education loan scheme
KANNUR: The Democratic Youth Federation of India, the youth wing of the CPM, is conducting state-wide campaigns to create awareness among the public about the new education loan repayment scheme announced by the state government. The campaigns have already been conducted in many districts, including Kannur. DYFI national president P.A. Muhammed Riyas said that the awareness camps were getting huge response from the people. “This is for the first time that the DYFI is taking out such a campaign which will help lakhs of people who have taken the education loans,” he said. “Thousands of people are facing difficulties in the repayment of the education loans and the new scheme would be a boon for them,” he added.
As part of the camps, the DYFI provides a detailed picture of how the repayment scheme works and the steps to be taken by the beneficiary to avail of the benefit. Help desks in association with various banks are also set up as part of the campaign. “People can directly talk to the bank representative concerned at the help desk with details and get a clear idea of how to go about it,” added DYFI Kannur district secretary V .K. Sanoj. The scheme announced by the chief minister provides government support to those who find it extremely difficult to repay the educational loan even after the completion of the course. The support is for repayment of the loans classified into various categories.
