Kozhikode: In the wake of Nipah virus and early rain, waste and sewage need to be disposed and surroundings cleaned urgently, said Malabar Development Council, a citizen’s forum in a press release.
MDC office bearers C.E. Chakkunni, Adv. M.K. Ayyapan, C.C. Manoj and P.A. Ajayan said that a petition has already been submitted by MDC to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, department of local administrative bodies, health minister, district administration and cooperation. Cleaning drive done on an emergency basis at ‘MP Road’ is a prime example.
The petition has also opined that Kudumbashree, manual scavengers, resident associations, hospitals, hotels, socio-cultural institutions and youth organisations need to unite for the cause despite their vested political interests.
