BJP says demolition of Vizag CGHS inhuman

VISAKHAPATNAM: Bharatiya Janata Party has condemned demolition of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) Wellness Centre in Visakhapatnam, which provided medical assistance to employees who have retired from central services.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP G.V.L. Narasimha Rao, accompanied by party workers and CGHS beneficiaries, protested at the site that had been demolished for road widening. He informed that the demolition by Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is an inhuman act, as the CGHS Wellness Centre had been the only health facility for many retired central government employees.

From the protest spot, the BJP MP called CGHS additional director Lakshmaiah who is based in Hyderabad. The official informed Narasimha Rao that the adjacent Chest Hospital had agreed to give the required space for the CGHS Wellness Centre.

The BJP MP assured the CGHS beneficiaries present that he will take full care of all permissions required for setting up of the wellness centre in the adjacent Chest Hospital.
