Goud win: Court for case against officer

HYDERABAD:The special court at the Nampally Metropolitan Magistrate Court has reportedly directed the police to register criminal cases against an officer who allegedly tampered with minister V. Srinivas Goud’s election affidavit. Goud is facing a petition against his election as MLA from Mahbubnagar Assembly constituency in 2018.

The contention of the petitioner, Raghavendra Raju, was that Goud had filed three affidavits, dated 14-11-2018, 19-11-2018 and another on a separate date. In alleged collusion with the returning officer he replaced the affidavit dated 14-11-2018 in violation of the RP Act.

Justice M. Laxman, who was hearing the petition, maintained that the law permitted a candidate to revise his election affidavit.

On Monday, the High Court imposed restrictions on petitioner Raju. Justice Laxman directed Raju to not refer to the court proceedings without the court’s permission while speaking with the media. The judge set the next day of hearing as August 7.

The court also directed the petitioner to file the list of witnesses proposed to be examined by next Monday. Further, the court took on record the affidavit dated 19-11-2018 filed by Srinivas Goud.
