Nizamabad: An inebriated father threw his five-year-old daughter into flames of grassweed at Barangedgi village in Birkur mandal of Kamareddy district on Sunday.
According to police, Desaipet Sailoo of Barangedgi village has two daughters. They were playing near their house on Sunday.
A fire broke out in the grassweed beside their house. Their neighbour Gottala Gangadhar quarrelled with Sailoo charging that Sailoo’s daughter Ankitha had lit the grassweed. Sailoo, who was in inebriated condition, fumed over the complaint and threw his daughter Ankitha into the flames.
However, Gangadhar immediately jumped into the flames and rescued the girl. Villagers called 108 ambulance and shifted her to the Government Area Hospital in Banswada.
Doctors say the condition of Ankitha is stable, though she has sustained burns on her legs and hands.
Birkur police have registered a case.
