Vizag Bids Adieu to 2023 With Tapestry of Celebrations
Visakhapatnam: New Year Eve brought in a surge of excitement with parties, events and home celebrations in the cosmopolitan city of Visakhapatnam. People flocked to bakeries, confectionaries, and fruit stalls for purchases culminating in New Year wishes to their near and dear ones.
Demand for cakes boomed despite a surge in cake prices. Shopping malls bustled with last-minute shoppers for consumer goods. Shopping malls turned into bustling hubs.
The owners of businesses like "Bake My Wish" and "Chandu Sweets" noticed the changing trends.
Sirisha, owner of Bake My Wish, acknowledged the market's unpredictability post-COVID. She says there is impromptu demand for ready-made cakes, rather than bulk pre-orders. Sweet shop owners, including Chandu Sweets, have observed a shift towards online purchases, impacting direct sales.
Event managers organised over 13 events across the city, offering a spectrum of experiences. From heart-pounding Adventure DJ Nights to serene beach parties at Rushikonda, revellers had an array of choices to usher in the New Year.
While some embraced modern revelry in extravagant parties like Sunburn Reload NYE and Epic Evening Vizag New Year Party, others stuck to tradition. They chose to welcome the New Year at temples as the clock struck twelve.
As the city embraced the dawn of 2024, it stood as a testament to unity in diversity, a melting pot of cosmopolitan yet culturally rich communities.
