Expert Committee for Kaleshwaram Scheme Probe Set to be Established
HYDERABAD: A four-member expert committee, sought by Justice P.C. Ghose, who heads the Judicial Commission investigating irregularities in the execution of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, will soon be established.
The engineer-in-chief of the Irrigation and Command Area Development department has written to the government, indicating that five experts, as requested by the Judicial Commission, have been identified and urged the government to constitute the committee.
In a letter to the principal secretary of the department, Rahul Bojja, engineer-in-chief G. Anil Kumar stated that, as per the Commission’s requirement, four experts — a mechanical engineer, a civil engineer, a geotechnical engineer, and a hydrology engineer — have been selected. They are Prof. C.B. Kameshwar Rao, an emeritus professor at JNTU (civil/structural expert); K. Satyanarayana, a retired chief engineer (mechanical); N. Rama Murthy, a professor at the National Institute of Technology, Warangal (geotechnical); and Prof. T. Shashidhar from IIT Hyderabad (hydrology and planning).
Justice Ghose requested the committee to visit the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages of the KLIS and submit a report to enable the Commission to proceed with its inquiry.
