Impressive laser show enthrals public in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: The laser show organised on Friday night after the unveiling of the BR Ambedkar statue in Swarajya Maidan was a major draw, enthusing large numbers of spectators from near and far.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy unveiled the Ambedkar statue and launched the laser show that illuminated the scene in the form of an umbrella of fireworks. There was wide applause from tens of thousands of spectators throning the ground.
Jagan Mohan Reddy took a round of the Ambedkar memorial and visited all the structures and facilities there.
The dazzling 125-feet bronze statue was installed on an 81-feet pedestal made of in the Kala Chakra Maha Mandala Buddhist architecture style to make it attractive from its sky-high posture.
As the CM launched the laser show after unveiling the statue, crowds cheered.
The giant statue was installed on a sprawling 18.18 acres space at an expenditure of `404. 35 crore. Its precincts consist of a musical fountain, a 2000-seat capacity convention centre, a food court, a walking track and a children’s entertainment park.
The Ambedkar Smruthi Vanam consists of a detailed Ambedkar Experience section that depicts the life and times of the visionary leader.
The pedestal itself consists of a ground plus two floors. The ground floor has four halls, one of them a cinema hall and the rest functioning as digital museums detailing BR Ambedkar’s life.
While one of the four halls on the first floor would showcase Dr Ambedkar’s attachment to south India, two of them would host a museum and the fourth one a library. The four halls in the second floor could be used as libraries.
The entire premises have been spruced up with beautiful flower plants and attractive marble-laid pathways by a Delhi-based team of designers.
