Temperatures Rise in Telangana As Heatwave Returns After Two Weeks

HYDERABAD: After nearly two weeks of respite, Telangana state once again experienced a heatwave, which fortunately could be the last this season, with temperatures crossing 43°C on Tuesday. North Telangana could see temperatures soaring up to 46°C in the coming days. Hyderabad is expected to experience temperatures of up to 42°C from May 22 29.

On Monday, Hyderabad recorded a high of 39.8°C

Data from TS Development Planning Society (TSDPS) revealed that the maximum temperatures are expected to rise gradually to 43°C to 45°C at Adilabad, Komuram Bheem, Mancherial, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, and Jayashankar districts later this week. In the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area, light rains are expected at isolated places on Wednesday, thereafter dry weather is expected for two days.

The GHMC forecast for the next three days indicates that temperatures will range between 37.6°C and 39.7°C. Specific areas such as Kapra and Uppal recorded maximum temperatures of 37.8°C, with predictions of rising temperatures over the next three days.

Residents began feeling the strain, after a week of moderate temperatures and rain. Ravi Kumar, a Hyderabad local, expressed his concern on X (formerly Twitter), saying, "The heat is unbearable, especially with power cuts adding to our woes. We're eagerly awaiting the rains to bring some relief (sic)."

Scattered storms are expected from May 22-24, offering brief relief from the oppressive heat.
