Indian army thwarts major IED attack in Manipur, diffuses three explosives
Kolkata: In a major success, the Indian Army thwarted an Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) attack in restive Manipur on Saturday, diffusing three IEDs.
During a routine area domination and surveillance operation, the Army troops noticed the three IEDs placed, in tandem, along the road connecting Nongdam Tangkhul and Etham Tangkhul villages near Maphou Dam in Imphal East.
The Army columns acted swiftly and cordoned off the area, said defence ministry spokesperson (Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh) Lieutenant Colonel Amit Shukla on Sunday.
The bomb disposal squad rushed to the location and diffused the IEDs safely, thereby preventing potential loss of life and injury to locals, he added.
