Indian Navy's Training Squadron Departs Cambodia After Strengthening Ties
INS Sujata and ICGS Veera conclude a successful goodwill visit to Sihanoukville, fostering closer bilateral cooperation with the Royal Cambodian Navy

The Indian Navy's First Training Squadron (1TS), comprising INS Sujata and ICGS Veera, departed from Sihanoukville port, marking the end of a successful three-day visit to Cambodia on Wednesday. This visit significantly strengthened bilateral ties and reaffirmed the Indian Navy's commitment to regional maritime cooperation.
During the visit, the 1TS engaged in various activities with the Royal Cambodian Navy, including a media interaction with Senior Officer of 1TS, Captain Anshul Kishore, and the Commanding Officers of the two ships. They discussed the importance of deeper maritime partnerships, with a focus on training, interoperability, joint exercises, and regional security. Captain Kishore also paid a courtesy visit to Admiral Tea Vinh, Commander of the Royal Cambodian Navy, where they discussed mutual areas of cooperation.
A major highlight of the visit was the handing over of a Small Arms Simulator to the Royal Cambodian Army as part of ongoing defense exchanges. The 1TS also organized a series of friendly sports events to foster camaraderie between Indian and Cambodian forces. Additionally, a guided tour of the ships was provided to the Indian community in Sihanoukville, enhancing people-to-people ties.
A reception aboard the ships brought together ambassadors, diplomats, and senior officials from both nations. The event underscored the enduring maritime partnership between India and Cambodia and demonstrated the vision of India’s "SAGAR" (Security And Growth for All in the Region) initiative.
The visit by the First Training Squadron exemplifies India's strategic approach towards fostering regional stability and cooperation through enhanced naval engagements.
