Jharkhand CM most corrupt: Rajnath Singh

NEW DELHI, CHATRA : Defence minister Rajnath Singh criticised Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday, labelling him the "most corrupt CM" and accusing him of undermining India's democratic values. Speaking at a rally in Itkhori, Chatra district, Singh called for voters to oust Soren and support the BJP in the upcoming Assembly elections.

“Hemant Soren has indulged in corruption and played with India's healthy democratic practices. India will never accept any tainted person,” he stated, while launching the BJP's 'Parivartan Yatra.'

Singh claimed that no previous BJP chief minister, including Babulal Marandi, Arjun Munda, and Raghubar Das, faced corruption allegations. He also directed his criticism at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of damaging India’s reputation abroad by suggesting that the country is unsafe for the Sikh community.

The defence minister described the ruling coalition of the JMM, Congress, and RJD as “speed breakers” hindering Jharkhand's development. He expressed concern over what he called the government’s support for Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators, stating, "They are marrying our daughters, which won’t be tolerated."

Singh urged voters to support the BJP to facilitate growth and development in Jharkhand, emphasising the party's commitment to justice beyond caste and creed. He highlighted the progress made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, noting that 25 crore people have risen out of poverty during the past decade.

He cited the nation’s improved global standing, referencing the successful rescue of Indian students during the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and spoke about the government's initiatives in housing, infrastructure, and medical education.

Singh also mentioned the BJP's commitment to the concept of ‘One Nation, One Election,’ announcing plans to introduce relevant legislation in Parliament following cabinet approval. This rally marks the third 'Parivartan Yatra' by the BJP in Jharkhand, as the party gears up for the upcoming assembly elections. Home Minister Amit Shah had launched the yatra in Sahibganj the day prior.
