Lodha Brothers Resolve Trademark Dispute

Abhishek and Abhinandan Lodha resolve trademark row; Macrotech keeps exclusive rights to ‘Lodha’ brand, HoABL to operate as a distinct entity.

Mumbai: The ongoing dispute between the Lodha brothers, sons of Maharashtra Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, over the use of the prestigious Lodha brand has been resolved. The Lodha brothers – Abhishek Lodha of Macrotech Developers Ltd and his younger brother Abhinandan Lodha, who heads House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL), have amicably resolved their trademark disputes under the guidance of their parents, said a statement issued by them.

As per the agreement, Macrotech Developers—listed on the stock exchange—will retain exclusive rights to use the ‘Lodha’ and ‘Lodha Group’ brand names. The company will continue its operations under this well-established identity in the Indian real estate market.

Another key part of the settlement involves a mutual understanding that neither brother will have any rights, claims, or affiliations with the other’s business interests. This ensures that Macrotech Developers and HoABL function as entirely separate entities with no overlaps in branding or operations.

Macrotech Developers, with its Lodha brand, continues to be one of India’s top real estate players, while HoABL carves its niche in plotted developments.

Abhishek and Abhinandan, through their respective statements, expressed gratitude to Justice Raveendran (retired) and Justice Doctor, who initiated the mediation process.

The dispute originated over the use of the Lodha brand name, with Macrotech Developers approaching the Bombay High Court against House of Abhinandan Lodha in January, alleging misuse of the brand name. The Bombay High Court bench of Justice Arif S Doctor appointed former Supreme Court judge Justice R V Raveendran (retired) on January 31 as the mediator to resolve the dispute.
