Madhya Pradesh: CM Yadav Launches Massive Tree Plantation Campaign

Bhopal: Chief minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday launched a mega tree plantation campaign in Madhya Pradesh under ‘a sapling in the name of mother’ programme.

Mr Yadav kicked off the campaign by planting a tree in Bhopal and another in Ujjain in the state.Senior BJP leaders of the state including MP BJP president Vishnu Dutt Sharma were present on the occasion.

Calling upon the people to make tree plantation a people’s movement, Mr Yadav said that a tree is equated with ten children in Indian culture.Around 5,000 people planted saplings in the Jamboree Ground here on the occasion.

On the first of the campaign on Saturday, 26,001 trees had been planted across the state, a BJP functionary said.Around 5.5 crore trees are scheduled to be planted in the state during the fortnight-long campaign.

State minister Kailash Vijayvargiya launched the tree plantation campaign in Indore.

He set a target to plant 51 lakh trees in Indore, the cleanest city of India as per the Swachh Bharat survey.

A target has also been set to plant 12 lakh trees each in Bhopal and Jabalpur.
