Shinde Discharged from Hospital After Blood Tests Confirm No Dengue, Malaria
MumbaiAmidst the ongoing political developments to form the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra, caretaker chief minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday was rushed to a Thane hospital raising a question mark over the upcoming swearing-in ceremony of the new CM on Thursday. However, the uncertainty was cleared after he was later discharged from the hospital. Reports have also emerged that Shinde has agreed to serve as deputy chief minister in the Mahayuti government.
Two days after returning from his native place in Satara district, Shinde visited Jupiter Hospital in Thane for a health checkup as his health showed no signs of improvement. Doctors advised a full examination of his health.
Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant said it was a ‘routine check-up’ and that the CM has tested negative for dengue, which is currently prevalent in Mumbai area. “He has had a throat infection, weakness and fever. He would be undergoing a blood test,” he said.
According to the Shiv Sena sources, his dengue and malaria tests were negative but due to a dip in white cells amid fever, he was feeling weak.
Shinde has been unwell for the last few days and went to his village Dare in Satara district for recuperation. His decision to head to his village had sparked speculation that he was unhappy about not being given the home ministry in the new government.
Shinde was later discharged, after which he returned to his official residence Varsha bungalow in South Mumbai. “I came for a check-up. My health is in good condition,” he said while leaving the hospital.
