Didi: Modi is 'So Autocrat'
Kolkata: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being “so autocrat” that he does not follow the constitution. The Trinamul Congress supremo also sarcastically wished Mr Modi a “peaceful sleep” following his day-long Lok Sabha Election campaign in the state.
She alleged at Behala in the evening, “Narendra Modi is so autocrat that he doesn't abide by the constitution and will not allow election further. Neither states nor religions will exist in the coming days. So let Modi go while our country survives.” Her retaliation came hours after facing Mr Modi's attack over misrule and corruption in the state.
Ms Banerjee later added, “Go to sleep peacefully, Modi Babu! Oh, you are God. I can't make God sleep. I can't also make reference to his mother since he called himself not a biological son. I don't know what to say? Whatever I will say will be an offence! I then have to say: go to sleep at your own abode.”
On the other hand, her MP nephew Abhishek Banerjee claimed at a poll campaign rally, “Media friends and many others have been texting me on my estimated number of seats TMC will win in the upcoming polls. I had said that, I would reveal it at the right time. Today, I want to say that out of 33 seats that went to poll, 9 seats are still pending, Trinamool Congress has crossed 23 seats.”
He added, “This is my challenge and you can tally my claims on June 4. Diamond Harbour is the seat which will deliver a final blow in ousting BJP. BJP has now started blaming the Central forces. Why? Because Central Forces are also aware that on June 4 a democratic INDIA bloc will form the govt at Centre. An income tax officer informed me that he has been asked to conduct raids at 5 places on May 31 and June 1. This is the situation of BJP - which is of the agency, by the agency and for the agency. But we are - of the people, by the people and for the people.”
Taking at dig at Mr Modi, the TMC leader alleged, “I want to tell the PM, tomorrow you will hold a public meeting at Kakdwip - Why don't you furnish white paper on the funds released to Bengal under Awas & MGNREGA since '21. I am sure you cannot and you won't.”
